HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Singapore Philatelic Museum (新加坡集邮博物馆) is Southeast Asia's first philatelic museum. The museum showcases the postal history of Singapore and its stamps.
It was officially opened on 19th August 1995, as a project of the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore, to encourage public awareness of Singapore's history and heritage through philately.
The Singapore Philatelic Museum was formerly part of Anglo-Chinese School. It then became the Methodist Book Room in the 1970s. Later it was restored to become the present museum.
INTERESTING HISTORICAL SNIPPETS:

The first stamps ever used in Singapore were from India!
Singapore started using stamps only in 1854. These stamps were shipped from India as Singapore was then part of the Straits Settlement that was administered by the British East India Company.
There are some which were made of wood. They are usually collectors' items although they can be used as postage.
OUR TRAVELOGUE:
Honestly, this is the first time we stepped into the Philatelic Museum. In fact, Egg-Farm Sin Choon has never knew such a place existed!!! Oh my gosh!! What a mountain-tortoise!
The Philatelic Museum is a place to appreciate postal history and postage stamps from significant historical accounts, entertainment and different countries. A stamp may be small, but when put together, they form a huge montage of images that narrate stories we never knew.
Mini plastic Postboxes of different countries are also available for sale.
We feel that it was worth the trip to check out this hidden spot. It is located just beside the Registry of Marriage.
Well, the Registry of Marriage is not supposed to be included in our trail, but since we are here, we took this opportunity to visit this significant place where couples are pronounced man and wife. We were curious about this place, but disappointingly, it seem too simple and sparse to us and it is closed on Saturday!!!!
